World Craft base world
What is a World Craft base world?
Worlds created with Creator Kit can be selected as base worlds for World Craft. When you start a World Craft with a base world selected, you can build a world by placing Craft item on top of the world’s landscape and items.
You can select any world you have uploaded as a base world, regardless of its publication settings. A base world can only be selected when creating a World Craft, and cannot be changed later.
Some world features behave differently when the world is used as a base world.
Features not inherited from the base world
Some settings of World Runtime Setting
Most settings of the World Runtime Setting component are inherited by the World Craft, but the following settings are not supported in World Craft and will be disabled:
- Use Cluster HUD v2
- Enable Crouch Walk
- Use Custom Clipping Planes (including Near Plane and Far Plane)
- Write Own Avatar Silhouette Stencil
In-world purchases
In-world purchase products sold in the base world are not inherited by the World Craft or by worlds published from the World Craft.
Save feature
As of August 2026, even if the base world implements a feature that stores Save data, play progress is not saved within the World Craft space. It is saved in worlds published from the World Craft. Note that save data is stored per world, so the save data of the base world and that of a world published from the World Craft are separate.
Relationship with World Environment settings
In World Craft, you can change Background, Effect, BGM, and other settings in the World Environment settings. These settings relate to the base world’s settings as follows.
Background and lighting
While “None” is selected as the background, the base world’s Skybox and lighting settings are used as they are.
When a background is selected, the world’s lighting changes as follows:
- The Skybox is replaced with that of the selected background
- All Directional Lights initially placed in the world whose Mode is Realtime or Mixed are deactivated, and the Directional Light included in the selected background is added
- Other types of lights such as Point Lights, and lights dynamically generated afterwards, are not affected
Other settings
- BGM: If you set BGM in the World Craft, it is played in addition to the base world’s audio
- Effect (Glow Strength and Color Filter): If the base world uses Post Processing, the Effect settings may not be applied. Some settings of Post Process Volumes whose Priority is 0 or lower may be overridden
- Shadow Rendering, Clambering, Moving Floors, and Floor Momentum: The World Environment settings are used. Their initial values are the base world’s World Runtime Setting values
Saving the existence and states of world items
As of August 2026, in World Craft, the existence and states of craft items are saved, but the existence and states of world items are not.
The existence and states of world items may be reset at the following times:
- When re-entering a World Craft some time after all players have left
- When the World Craft is published as a world
When reset, world items revert to their state at the time the base world was uploaded. Specifically, the behavior is as follows:
- World items dynamically generated with ClusterScript, the Create Item Gimmick component, etc. are deleted
- World items that have been moved return to their original positions
- The states of gimmicks and scripts are reset
Note that craft items generated from world items are treated as craft items and are therefore saved. See Item for item classification.
Be aware of this behavior when using a world with mechanisms that change the states of world items as a base world.
Updating and deleting the base world
When you update a world set as a base world with Creator Kit, the update is also applied to World Crafts based on that world. However, it is not applied to the following:
- Worlds published from the World Craft: the update is not applied until you update the world from the World Craft
- World Runtime Setting values: they are loaded only when the World Craft is created, so later updates are not applied
Also, a world set as the base of a World Craft cannot be deleted. You can delete the world once all World Crafts based on it have been deleted.
